Here at Monmouth, our CSSE students are involved not only in our department, but in other areas of the school as well! Here is a look at a day in the life of Giuseppe Licata, a junior in the Computer Science major!

My normal day would consist of classes, and I work as a tutor in the Math Learning Center and as an IT LabAssistant in two Information Technology classes. I tend to stay on campus most of the day because it is easier for me to get all my work done; you can usually find me hanging out and doing homework in the Math Learning Center. I really enjoy lab assisting and tutoring because I enjoy helping students understand difficult mathematics or computer and programming problems. Helping a student reach a level of understanding is extremely satisfying because it's a nice feeling knowing you helped someone. During the day I enjoy going to the new food court in the Student Center - I really enjoy the new pizza because it is just like the pizza you would find at your favorite local pizzeria!

One of my favorite classes this fall semester is the 3D Game Design Class. Using a program called Unity 3D we create 3D games from beginning to finish. We design the characters and program out all the movements for the characters as well! Right now my partner and I are working on making the 2D Pacman arcade game into a 3D 3rd person game.

Aside from attending class and tutoring I am the captain of Monmouth’s Sailing team.

Yes, we have a sailing team! We have about 19 active members and we practice at the Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club.

We go to about 6 regattas (sailing competitions) every semester and we travel as far as 8 hours north and south to sail at various locations. So that is how I spend my days!
